Certegy Check Services
Reviews and Complaints
Certegy sucks, plain and simple.
Sorry in advanced for the spelling/grammar mistakes, after running around wasting a bunch of time trying to cash my state of KS tax return and getting refused by Certegy, Im a bit frustrated.
I was refused to get my check cashed at my Dillions and given a small slip of paper with a number to call. So I went home, called the number, and basically was given a scripted, complete BS answer by the customer service rep. He said things like "you didn't met the criteria" etc. etc. but couldnt give me an exact reason to safe his butt. I also went to Walmart and tried with the same results. Im not a criminal, and this check is a 100% legit tax return from the state of Kansas, I cant be any more legit then I am. But according to this joke of a company Certegy, I guess Im not good enough for them to cash my check given to me by the state....I guess I will have to wait until my bank opens and go to them, they will be able to cash it no problem because they are a good company, unlike Certegy.
Any company using Certegy should drop them and find a real company to use for check services. Refusing honest people with no criminal activity is idiotic, just as Certegy is. Don't believe me? Get online and see for yourself the massive amounts of complaints against Certegy.
- Being refused to have my tax return cashed for no real reason
Certegy *** Job
Cetergy Check Services Check Cashing Review from Owasso, Oklahoma
Certegy is a horrible service, this time they declined my check at lowe's and I have an account there. The other two times last year at target and Walmart.
What is upsetting is the cashiers always talk loud about your business and people look at you like your committing a crime. What's more, Certegy doesn't even check with your bank to see if you have funds. There is no reason they should have done this. Sure I have a bank card but most banks give you a daily limit for safety reasons.
Certegy should be outlawed. I had enough funds in my acct. Each time they declined my checks. I called and got on their VIP list and to no avale they still declined me.
They told me if I got on their management and gave them my SS # it would probably go through next time, but couldn't guarantee it. I don't give my SS# out to anyone over the phone.
Who are they to dictate this.

Certegy and GreenDot are F'n each Other
To avoid bank fees I recently got a GreenDot card. I've been a GreenDot member several years.
I decided for the first time to use the GreenDot photo capture after receiving a check from a family member who owns a successful business I snapped the check and 30 second later received a decline notice from GreenDot. Obviously, I thought there was a mistake especially since I was simply photo capturing the check to put into my account. I tried again; this time I received a message my request would take more processing time, but to check my email in 1/2 hour. The photo capture was declined based on data from Certegy.
Who the *** is Certegy? Now after finding this forum and a bad experience with them I know.
Certgey seems Draconian in their practices and I would not be surprised if Certegy is not linked to corrupt higher levels of bureaucracy.
Certegy
- Refused to give a reason for decline
- Wanted me to apply to write checks
- Would not talk to me
CERTEGY approvals are worthless!
- Certegy does not stand behing approval

Check turned down at two different shoe stores...
- Being made to feel like a criminal
Certegy is a scam
I went to my local Kroger today to cash a Western Union money order that I received from someone who owed me money. Now, mind you this money order was purchased with cash.
Kroger goes through their verification *** and tells me they can't cash this, do what? Then they give me an 800 number to call which turns out to be some company I never heard of called Certegy. After a very long and frustrating wait and talking to someone who barely spoke English they tell me the money order is too much of a risk? How can a money order paid for with cash be a risk?
This is beyond unbelievable. A money order should be considered the same as cash, that's how it was purchased.
I even got the manager of the store involved and of course they can't do anything because no one has any control over these charlatans. They need to be sued.
Preferred solution: Full refund
Market places who rely on Certegy to cash their customers checks better think twice. They are losing their customers
I agree with you. It's really humorous that all these companies think Certegy is the best thing since sliced bread.
These companies that do business with Certegy. Verizon, Kohls, Walmart Penneys Best Buy and many many many more are losing good paying customers left & right. (& they think they have Certegy protecting them?) There is a web site that shows all the market places that use Certegy. Before I do any shopping with my trusty old check I look it up to make sure they arent with Certegy.
Verizon!!
I was so embarassed...I was with them for 13 yrs & pay my monthly bills which never bounce & they wouldnt cash it cause Certegy denied it.

You should trust reviews of "1" concerning this company. To give a 4 for a bad review is ridiculous, my friend.
