Sorry in advanced for the spelling/grammar mistakes, after running around wasting a bunch of time trying to cash my state of KS tax return and getting refused by Certegy, Im a bit frustrated.

Original review Mar 10, 2016
Im on disability due to health problems, and am low income as it is. I received my small tax return, and wanted to cash it at my local Dillions. Unfortunately, that Dillions uses the horrible Certegy Check service company to cash checks. Its horrible, because if you get online you will find a massive amount of complaints, as well as a 3.5 million dollar law suit they had to pay in 2013 for violations of the fair credit reporting act. This company is horrible, 1000s of people have their legitimate checks refused to be cashed, by this idiotic company. And some of the reasons are beyond ridiculous, like one case where the excuse was there was another check from another person that resembled yours, and it was a bad check....so yours was refused to be cashed too....what the ***? I understand todays security needs, but this is beyond ***. When honest people with no history of doing anything bad are constantly refused, then the problem is with the company refusing not the honest customers. Even a child can understand this logic, but evidently the people running Certegy don't have that level of intelligence.

I was refused to get my check cashed at my Dillions and given a small slip of paper with a number to call. So I went home, called the number, and basically was given a scripted, complete BS answer by the customer service rep. He said things like "you didn't met the criteria" etc. etc. but couldnt give me an exact reason to safe his butt. I also went to Walmart and tried with the same results. Im not a criminal, and this check is a 100% legit tax return from the state of Kansas, I cant be any more legit then I am. But according to this joke of a company Certegy, I guess Im not good enough for them to cash my check given to me by the state....I guess I will have to wait until my bank opens and go to them, they will be able to cash it no problem because they are a good company, unlike Certegy.

Any company using Certegy should drop them and find a real company to use for check services. Refusing honest people with no criminal activity is idiotic, just as Certegy is. Don't believe me? Get online and see for yourself the massive amounts of complaints against Certegy.

Certegy *** Job

This company and the others like it are legalized *** artists. The company only exists to charge retail stores excessive amounts of money and serve as a scapegoat for the stores. When you have an issue with a check, they blame the stores and the stores blame Certegy. These check verification services hassle legitimate customers and never identify theft and fraud. Check verification companies play the shell game with the retail stores that don't have the courage to just say they don't want to take checks! Check verification services do no follow up to pursue any suspicious checks that manage to get past their system. If the store takes a physical check that is bad or stolen, then the check is placed in storage until the criminal is caught by local law enforcement. If the check is electronic, then it is kept in a database until it is resolved by, you guessed it, local law enforcement. My best advise is for people to boycott any retail store that uses these scam artists. Contact the corporate offices of any store that does business with them to urge them to quit doing business with check verification services.

Cetergy Check Services Check Cashing Review from Owasso, Oklahoma

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Certegy is a horrible service, this time they declined my check at lowe's and I have an account there. The other two times last year at target and Walmart.

What is upsetting is the cashiers always talk loud about your business and people look at you like your committing a crime. What's more, Certegy doesn't even check with your bank to see if you have funds. There is no reason they should have done this. Sure I have a bank card but most banks give you a daily limit for safety reasons.

Certegy should be outlawed. I had enough funds in my acct. Each time they declined my checks. I called and got on their VIP list and to no avale they still declined me.

They told me if I got on their management and gave them my SS # it would probably go through next time, but couldn't guarantee it. I don't give my SS# out to anyone over the phone.

Who are they to dictate this.

I called them to pay a check that was returned and they wanted me to give them my name, drivers id number, address, check routing, account number and check number. that is too much information to give out over the phone, and they said they want to verify, but they will not give you anything to verify. if you give them all of this information, then you leave nothing to verify. verify means you have some information and you would like to confirm that this is the same information. I don't trust anyone with reviews of 1. Really, reviews are a 1? and you want all my information and your reviews say you sale customer information to 3rd parties.

You should trust reviews of "1" concerning this company. To give a 4 for a bad review is ridiculous, my friend.

After claiming bankruptcy I figured I would be able to cash my GOOD payroll checks still seeing that banks will cash them without a problem. WRONG LOL. CERTEGY CONSTANTLY DECLINES these perfectly good checks time and time again. They are a *** joke. I am not sure what they are using to check these checks but it clearing isn't the actual bank where the funds are. So TY CERTEGY FOR MAKING ME LOOK LIKE A *** *** IN LINE at the local grocery stores (walmart/meijers). You can eat a dk.

Certegy and GreenDot are F'n each Other

To avoid bank fees I recently got a GreenDot card. I've been a GreenDot member several years.

I decided for the first time to use the GreenDot photo capture after receiving a check from a family member who owns a successful business I snapped the check and 30 second later received a decline notice from GreenDot. Obviously, I thought there was a mistake especially since I was simply photo capturing the check to put into my account. I tried again; this time I received a message my request would take more processing time, but to check my email in 1/2 hour. The photo capture was declined based on data from Certegy.

Who the *** is Certegy? Now after finding this forum and a bad experience with them I know.

Certgey seems Draconian in their practices and I would not be surprised if Certegy is not linked to corrupt higher levels of bureaucracy.

Worst company ever, to write a check to companies that they serve that want you to apply to them. They will not give a reason for decline. It is "other" and wants to send a copy of an application. They refuse to cash check to a local grocery store that I have written checks to multiply times. I have never had a bounced check. When I checked with my bank there was no problems on my end. My bank said they have had problems with them. They want your information and that gives thieves more chance to steal from you. Electronic checks transfer automatically, so they know that you have funds they just want all your information.

CERTEGY approvals are worthless!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This review is actually about TSYS' affiliate CERTEGY, who provides check processing for TSYS customers. Certegy does not stand behind their clients. We have used Certegy check approval services for over 10 years. After receiving VERBAL APPROVAL from a Certegy Rep., weeks later, certegy declined a transaction. Months after jumping through hoops, providing additional info, waiting, waiting, waiting....... Certegy still did not stand behind their verbal approval. TSYS is the company that processes our cc's, they use and recommend Certegy. We contacted TSYS and they have been no help. CERTEGY- stand behind your employee's and your approval!

Check turned down at two different shoe stores...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I too have never had a bounced check. I too have been embarrassed at shoe stores...of all places....due to my check being turned down by Certegy....no reason given...just call Certegy!!! Then they won't tell you. But I could fill out a form and be on their "VIP" list to be allowed to write checks at the stores who use them...whhhhhattt!! Oh, and all I have to do is give them all the information that is already on the check to begin with...plus my social security number???? Bunches of B.S.!!!!!!! And, no, I really don't want to go back to these stores..but for all I know, all the stores are going to this. Why don't they just tell consumers, CASH ONLY!!!!

Certegy is a scam

I went to my local Kroger today to cash a Western Union money order that I received from someone who owed me money. Now, mind you this money order was purchased with cash.

Kroger goes through their verification *** and tells me they can't cash this, do what? Then they give me an 800 number to call which turns out to be some company I never heard of called Certegy. After a very long and frustrating wait and talking to someone who barely spoke English they tell me the money order is too much of a risk? How can a money order paid for with cash be a risk?

This is beyond unbelievable. A money order should be considered the same as cash, that's how it was purchased.

I even got the manager of the store involved and of course they can't do anything because no one has any control over these charlatans. They need to be sued.

Market places who rely on Certegy to cash their customers checks better think twice. They are losing their customers

I agree with you. It's really humorous that all these companies think Certegy is the best thing since sliced bread.

These companies that do business with Certegy. Verizon, Kohls, Walmart Penneys Best Buy and many many many more are losing good paying customers left & right. (& they think they have Certegy protecting them?) There is a web site that shows all the market places that use Certegy. Before I do any shopping with my trusty old check I look it up to make sure they arent with Certegy.

Verizon!!

I was so embarassed...I was with them for 13 yrs & pay my monthly bills which never bounce & they wouldnt cash it cause Certegy denied it.

Tried to cash my tax refund check at grebes supermarkets a division of Kroger. They say certegy flagged it as a risk?

A risk a government check?

I have been a customer for over 20 years! If they wasn't to do business with them now I won't be doing business with any Kroger anymore.
